USS JANUS

The USS JANUS is the first Slipstream capable Starfleet vessel to be constructed after the return of the USS VOYAGER to the Alpha Quadrant. There have been changes made to established canon. Unlike the Voyager's attempt to cross the Quadrant in one day, the Janus is equipped with a less powerful drive. A trip from the Alpha Quadrant to the Delta Quadrant would take 9 months (continuous use) at Slipstream velocity. This was to reign in the technology that was fan-wanked into the episode "Timeless". Like the Intrepid class, the Nacelle pylons on this ship are flat to the horizon when not at warp, but rotate up 45 degrees when warp drive is engaged. When at slipstream, the nacelles are mostly tucked away behind the saucer section to reduce the ship profile.
